Hamptons Style Kitchen: Elements to Look For

The Hamptons style kitchen is an increasingly popular kitchen design loved for it's simplicity and sophistication. This style of kitchen uses both old and new elements in a wonderful blended style. There are particular elements of this style that cannot be overlooked; here is a compilation:

  • A neutral colour scheme: It is extremely important to establish a colour scheme prior to deciding anything else. This is because then you can get items in this scheme and won't waste money on items that would later not come in use when they do not fit in. Normally, a Hamptons style kitchen is in a white and grey colour palette. Some people will decide to make a completely white kitchen; however, this can appear dull. This is why a blend of grey with the white can really add dimension.
  • Hamptons style cabinets: The cabinets are crucial to getting the Hamptons look right. Cabinets need to be practical with plenty of storage, but also have to reflect the Hamptons style. These cabinets are known as shaker cabinets. Once you decide on the type of shaker cabinets, you will then need to decide if you would like a glass front for some of your cabinets. Glass front are wonderful for adding a luxurious feel to the kitchen.
  • Door handles that stand out: When you have the crisp colour scheme of white and grey (or just white if that's your choice) then the choice of door handles needs to stand out. Pick door handles in a colour that pops against the white colour scheme. Additionally, you need to select the style of the door handle: olden day Victorian style or modern day style.
  • Hampton style features: Other key feature in a Hamptons style kitchen is contemporary style tapware that contrasts the old style cabinets. For instance, you may decide to do curved black taps that contrast to old style white cabinets. Additionally, benchtops are most often marbled in a Hamptons kitchen, and these really work well with the other elements. The flooring should not be overlooked, and again should be dark to contrast the other white elements.
  • Hamptons decor: Hampton decor adds the finishing touch to a beautifully designed Hamptons kitchen. Pops of white flowers and wooden trays will work well and add warmth to the entire feel of the kitchen.

Hamptons kitchens are classic and never go out of style. A well thought-out Hamptons kitchen will really stand out in your home.

About Me

Harold's Home and Garden Advice

Hello! I'm Harold, and I am a very keen gardener and home DIY enthusiast. I started this blog as a result of a conversation I had with a friend. We were chatting with each other about the latest jobs we were planning to complete. I was giving my friend some tips when he suggested that I write a series of articles so I could pass on my wisdom to others. I learnt all about home and garden DIY from a local contractor who used to complete work for me. Eventually, I realised I knew enough to carry out the work myself.
